Different departments. Different data. Same principle: structure first, analytics second.
It is important to understand the really added value and purpose of an analytics function: reporting numbers is operational! designing visibility is strategic.
During my path in Hanesbrands, I’ve been involved providing support or overseeing a variety of processes such as: Quality management, Analytics, IT, Product Safety, planning, Customer Quality Compliance, quality contractor manager, corporate quality… and the list might go for a couple of more functions… each time I have been in front of a new challenge I have always noticed that the challenge wasn’t effort, it was visibility.
So I started with fundamentals or as I like to call my “recipe for process and analytics success”:
- Documented the end-to-end process
- Defined clear workflows and ownership
- Identified critical control points
- Structured the data behind each step
Only then did I implement analytics.
Dashboards didn’t just show metrics…
They reflected the process logic.
The result? Better traceability, faster decisions, and proactive risk management
